Conditions for foreign workers to work in Vietnam?
To work in Vietnam, foreign workers need to meet the following conditions:
- Be 18 years old or older, with full civil act capacity.
- Have professional qualifications, technical skills, expertise, and work experience.
- Have sufficient health condition as required by the Ministry of Health of Vietnam.
- Not currently serving a sentence, not yet rehabilitated, or not under criminal prosecution as per the laws of their home country or Vietnam.
- Have a work permit issued by the competent state authority of Vietnam.
Employers are allowed to recruit foreign workers when local Vietnamese workers cannot meet production and business needs. Positions for recruiting foreign workers include: managerial and executive positions, experts, and technical workers.
Employers must provide a written explanation of the need for employing foreign workers before recruiting them. The use of foreign workers must be approved in writing by the competent state authority.

Documentation for applying for a work permit in Vietnam.
According to legal regulations, the documentation for applying for a work permit in Vietnam includes:
- A written request for the issuance of the work permit by the employer;
- A health certificate issued by the competent authority valid for 12 months.
- A judicial record or a document confirming that the foreign worker is not serving a sentence, has not been rehabilitated, or is not under criminal prosecution in their home country or in Vietnam, valid for 6 months.
- Documents or papers proving the position as a manager, executive, expert, or technical worker.
- 02 color photos (size 4 cm x 6 cm, white background, facing forward, head uncovered, no colored glasses), taken within the last 6 months from the application date.
- A document approving the demand for employing foreign workers, except in cases where the need for foreign workers is not defined.
