Circumstances for Reacquiring Vietnamese Citizenship

Individuals who have lost Vietnamese citizenship may apply to reacquire it under the following conditions:

• Returning to Vietnam: If they wish to return and settle in Vietnam.
• Family Ties: If they have a spouse, biological parent, or biological child who is a Vietnamese citizen.
• Special Contributions: If they have made significant contributions to the construction and protection of the Vietnamese Fatherland.
• Benefit to the State: If reacquiring citizenship would benefit the Socialist Republic of Vietnam.
• Investment: If they are engaged in investment activities in Vietnam.
• Loss of Foreign Citizenship: If they have renounced Vietnamese citizenship to acquire foreign citizenship but were unable to obtain the foreign citizenship.

Documents Required for Reacquiring Vietnamese Citizenship

To apply for reacquisition of Vietnamese citizenship, the following documents are required:

• Identification Documents: A copy of the birth certificate, passport, or other valid substitutes.
• Personal Background Declaration: A completed personal background form.
• Criminal Record Certificates:
